The Long-lasting Battle b/w Cody's and the Cottage [no pictures indeed]

Within a five-minute drive from each other, Cody’s La Jolla and the Cottage are the two finest breakfast places at Downtown La Jolla, as far as I know. Cody’s faces a spectacular ocean view of La Jolla Cove, while the Cottage is located more inside the downtown neighborhood. Owning the adjacency to the palms and waves, Cody’s has snug outdoor seats with delicate wooden tables and cushions. Outside the Cottage, there is always a long wait (about an hour) during weekends, speaking for itself how good the food is -- for Cody’s, although there  also requires some waiting time, it is easier to walk the time away along the refreshing park by the ocean. On their menus, they have similar food offerings and drinks such as the fresh juices. There are two items that are both popular in both restaurant: the Toasts and the Crab Cake Egg Benedict. Here comes the contest on these two dishes between these two restaurants. The Crab Cake Benedict@The Cottage:Next to the two egg benedicts are pan-fried hash brown chunks with a string of grapes. The potato is mildly spicy and a little bit over-salty -- better to go with some fruit and juices. The crab meat slices are as thin as threads, and come with a relatively more fishy flavor compared to the ones in other restaurants. The potatoes and the two egg benedicts might be too much for one customer if he/she wants to try something else at the same time -- a dish split by the server is always warmly encouraged -- and the food remains intact and satisfying after the division.@Cody’sThe dishes in Cody’s are pieces of art. Same as the crab cake benedict at the Cottage, there is potato as a side. It is trayed differently as a foundation to hold the two benedicts. The cooking method is different too -- the potatoes are slightly mixed -- not as mushy as mashed potatoes, retaining some chunks and the potato skins. The crab meat, unlike the threadlike ones, is made in a less artificial style. The several spinach leaves and a portion of avocado on top of the dish gives it a harmonious color presentation.

I declare that Cody's has win the battle of the crab cake benedict!

The Toasts @The Cottage:The Stuffed Toast is a must-try here. You can split this three-slice toast plate with your friend next to you, but you might turn reluctant after your first bite. Even if you feel too filled to eat the whole thing, the dominating thought would probably be to take it home and eat it next morning. The toast, distinguishes itself visually from the average toasts that topped with cut fruits, folds the strawberry slices in it. The warm and fluffy toast, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, would melt in your mouth before you realize there is only strawberry you need to keep working on chewing. The lurking dry orange skin slices gives the toast a brisk freshness. The advice is...share it with your neighbours and do not wait till next morning to enjoy the rest -- although it will still be exciting, it probably won’t turn out as magical. It is exciting to know that when ordering, The Cottage actually welcomes an half-and-half option (half toast and half benedict, which includes 1.5 huge slices of toasts and one whole benedict!!!)@Cody’sDemonstrating the same spirit of its egg benedict, the toast here will also surprise you by its architectural traying -- the structure of the toasts bricks and the flattering colors embellished by the green mint leaves and fresh strawberries with the details of scattered peanut crumbs.

I declare that Cody's has win the battle of the toasts!
